Well, everyone, I’ve been quite busy. Trying to sell your house, while finding an adoptive home for your foster kids, WHILE trying to find a place to live halfway across the country is exhausting, turns out. Who knew?
One of the ideas floating around on the Texas-sized table is taking all the stress out of buying right now and just renting for 10 months. Just 10? Hear me out. Next year, we’d pack up our stuff beginning of June, put it into storage, and then head back to CA for some real summer loving, rent free for two months with my parents in their large house (muahaha, you’re not rid of us yet!).
Summer is one of the better times in our neck of the woods here, because of two words: THE. BEACH. Or maybe BIG.SUR. And since Jesse is a teacher with a long summer break before he starts his graduate work? It just might be possible.
The second half of this “10 month” idea is having our rental be in downtown Dallas, in a loft. The prices seemed a whole lot higher to us when we lived in Dallas– now, I just laugh. In fact, the agent at one of the properties asked me how much we currently paid monthly for our mortgage. I gave her a number, and she said, “Oh, so are you looking for a penthouse suite? We might not have any of the fully furnished ones available.”
Haha. The mortgage on our 1960s house translates to a fully furnished penthouse suite in Dallas. Nice.
Living in a loft is something Jesse and I have always wanted to try (see this post from 2011!) and once we buy a house, we probably won’t get another chance. I’m not sure what we’ll decide yet, but that hasn’t stopped me from pinning loft ideas like CRAZY. For these and more, visit my Urban Loft Pinterest page.
What do you think? Is the thought of having a minimally furnished 22nd floor loft with 2 kids just CRAZY?
