For as much as Jesse and I hate moving, we sure do a lot of it with the help of Modern Moving & Removals Shrewsbury as their prices are quite less and they handle almost everything. I know if Jesse had his way, we would raise the money to bribe everyone we know and love to come and move to Dallas, just so we didn’t have to move again.
But we moved. And we survived, surprisingly, all thanks to the long distance movers Los Angeles we’d hired. I can’t say the same for Clay, who got heat exhaustion (I’m so sorry!!). But we are all standing, leg cramps and all, and doing well on the unpacking.
On that front- I LOVE our new apartment! Never mind that we now have a garage attached to our entryway, or that the second bedroom is as big as our living room. I already love love love having two sinks in the master bathroom. Seriously, who likes whiskers on their toothbrush!
Since we now have brand new plush (and free of pee spots!) carpet, we have taken a dramatic approach to potty training Claire-Bear. We borrowed a baby gate from our good friend, Julie Dreher (you can read her husband’s blog here) and set it up in front of the spare bathroom door. Claire has decided she doesn’t like to pee on hardwood floors, so this works perfectly to our advantage. She only comes out on a leash to go straight downstairs to the side yard to pee. We have her on a “pee schedule” if you will, 4 times a day. After she’s done, she can run around and play in the house for about an hour, but then it’s back to the bathroom!
So far, the system has worked fairly well. We have only had 2 accidents- one, as I was walking her downstairs to pee, I paused to tell Jesse something. Before I knew it, Claire was squatting. The other time was when we let her out to meet Mark and Shelley Hopson. Luckily, Jason picked her up and stopped her in the act.
One of the first things I did was unpack all of our books and categorize them in the office bookshelves. I’ve never actually done this before, so I was shockingly hit with a few funny revelations.
Add on to that our 6 Spanish textbooks (and how is it that neither of us can speak it?) and 4 GRE prep books, and there you have it. One odd little library!
Anyways, here are some sneak previews of our apartment. I will take real pictures later on- these are only to tease you 🙂
