Right now, I’m basically stuck on the couch because I don’t have the heart to wake up my poor dog. She keeps yelping in her sleep, it’s so sad to see her go through this.
While I’m stuck here, I thought I might reveal some of the design ideas I’ve had concerning PineCone’s future room. I know I blogged about that wonderful organic baby sheet set a week ago, but I got to thinking…what if I could make most of that stuff? I found free patterns online, and even with buying expensive fabric I could save about $100. Plus, it would be completely unique. And, if you know me, that’s a selling point in and of itself.
I don’t yet have a sewing machine…a minor detail!
As I researched fabrics, I felt myself drawn to earth tones, surprise surprise. And, even though we are finding out the baby’s gender a week from today (!), after a bunch of research I settled on a gender-neutral scheme. I know…but I like it!! These fabrics are all for sale at “Spoonflower”– a site that individuals can design and upload their own fabric designs. If you purchase someone else’s fabric, they get 10% commission!
We have moved on from birds and branches. We are now officially obsessed with owls. Which I just realized was a kind of bird. Oh well.
I love the pattern because it’s a) cute, and b) has many colors and options for accessorizing….
Anyone else have any ideas? Hints? I’d love to hear!

side note…do they have the midol equivalent for dogs? that might help her out. *shrug* I like the bird/owl idea. Its cute. =) Also, you can always hand sew which doesn’t take too long and can be relaxing in and of itself (also cheaper than trying to buy a sewing machine). The pattern is also pretty simple and shouldn’t give you any trouble or even take that much time. The fabric is adorable. ooo! you could even paint a tree on one of the walls and get applique’s or something to put on the branches and for pinecone to play with as s/he gets older. =) anyways, cool ideas. =)

ok..wow…you sooo have to tell me if you go with owls as a theme….soooo many cool things out there. I just might go crazy. 😉 also Court, you have any themed ideas for kid 2.0?

I suggest a “Conen” the Barbarian theme. Lots of clubs, swords and leather-clad, long-haired governor of California types. Unless it’s a boy, then get something more masculine . . .
Love you!

Daddy-Cone, you have to know that I didn’t “get” this at all, but Jesse thought it was hilarious 🙂 I guess I have a lot more to learn about Cone Humor!!
