One of the things I didn’t realize before having kids is that although one may lose all the baby weight (and then some, perhaps), the body has forever changed its shape. The only way I can explain it is by saying that lowrise jeans will never work again, if you get my drift. It’s way too easy to bend over and play with the kids, not realizing how much is showing back there, ya know? The days of lowrise jeans are over, I’m afraid.
The problem is that the prospect of Mom Jeans (ie., high waist, low pockets, saggy butt, aka.,death as I know it) doesn’t exactly excite me.
Enter Paige’s Hidden Hills Jeans. Other than my Jimmy Jimmy boyfriend jeans, the last time I bought Paige was in college, but most of their styles are very lowrise, so I had to sell mine on eBay a few years back. But then I heard about their higher rise cut (about 3″ higher than most), and when I saw some on a crazy clearance deal at Marshalls, I just had to go for them!
Also, can we just laugh for a minute about naming a higher back waistband “Hidden Hills”? C’mon!!!

I must say– they definitely deliver. They have a high enough waist to cover the “Mom Rolls”, but not so high as to fall into dangerous “Mom Jean” territory. Here’s a picture of how far up the waist actually comes.
Mine are a little bit too long at the moment, so it’s heels for now until I can get them hemmed.
However, that hasn’t stopped me from rolling them up a little, I’m afraid 🙂 No shame, this one.

So…I remember the last time you bought Paige jeans because I had a twin pair (remember the picture we took – you, me, and Kristen – of our matching vintage lace pockets!? Memories. Sigh.) Anyway, reading this post gave me the courage to finally let my pair go. I’ve been holding onto them all these years, even though I broke the zipper like two years ago trying to squeeze my 27-year-old woman hips into jeans that were clearly tailored for my 20-year-old girl self. I love your new pair! I think a higher rise waist looks so elegant. 🙂

I remember!! I almost posted a picture of them 🙂 It’s funny how I weigh less than I did then, but they just wouldn’t fit!
