No.
I am NOT pregnant.
Whew.
Got that out of the way.
Remember how I said that we were open to fostering and/or adopting again, someday in the future?
That day is next week!
Next Saturday, our family will be receiving two little boys, ages 5 and 10, to foster temporarily, while their parents work their plan to get them back.
Yes, that means we will have 4 kids for a few months, all of them boys! We will have: a 10, 5, 3 and 1 year old!!! I will be outnumbered, definitely.
We are keeping their names, pictures and details very private, so you won’t get to hear a lot about them specifically. But I will definitely be writing a lot about what it’s like to have so many young kids around! Jesse and I are taking lots of precautions this time around, because we want to be fully prepared, both emotionally and logistically.
Some of the logistics have included:
New schools/pick up times
TONS of doctor appts. to be scheduled
Buying bunkbeds and dressers for the playroom
Buying a LOT of food
Buying a narrow, yet safe booster seat to fit between our two carseats
Obtaining a second vehicle, since we only have our Rav4 and it only seats 5 people. In case you are bad at math like me, we will have 6 people in our family for a few months. Instead of buying a van, which we don’t need or want at this time, we looked into buying a 2nd car, preferably a sedan for Jesse to commute in. Another teacher approached Jesse and said that he would be honored if we could use his car for a few months, or just until we don’t need it anymore. Wow!
So for now, we’re going to see how things go with two 5-person vehicles. Everything that we do is within a 5 mile radius of us, so it might work…for a little while!
Definitely keep us in your prayers. We have met the boys a few times, and they are absolutely wonderful. We are excited, but we also know we have a lot of work ahead of us!
