Yesterday, Baby Gregory “got spoilt” with oodles of gifts.
First of all, my parents decided to buy us a LOVELY second-hand Morigeau Lepine crib. I know that I already have one from Ikea, but Jesse confessed to me a few weeks ago that he doesn’t even like it. And the more these protective pregnancy hormones take over, the more I’m in the mood for a sturdy, heirloom-quality type of crib, one that will last us for many children (Lord willing!).
This crib will certainly fit the bill. A family owned/run business up in Canada, these cribs used to retail for $1200-1500! Sadly, with the collapse of the economy and the drop of US currency to Canadian (or is it the other way around?) the company went out of business last year. So, while it will be hard to find replacement parts, the only way to get one of these cribs is second-hand. They are becoming a bit of a collector’s item.
The one I found on Craigslist was only $225, and in spectacular mint condition. It may seem like a lot, especially second hand, but this is like the Cadillac of all cribs! It’s hard for me not to appreciate well made furniture. My dad and Janelle went with me to see it, and it didn’t take me long to decide that it was “the one”. What a generous present from my parents…I’m still giddy about it!
And then I went to my baby shower, hosted by Tess and Julie at the Trinidade’s home in Paso Robles. Not only did I get tons of books and clothes, but I even got a few blankets with Gregory’s name embroidered upon them. At least 5 or 6 people (including my mom, once again!) even went in on a $200 gift card to Sears so that I could buy my stroller/carseat/diaper bag combo!! Little Gregory is so blessed. Okay, maybe just a few….
