Remember our cute little trailer? The one we bought a few months ago at a garage sale?
Now that school is out for the summer, Jesse has been able to put a few hours into fixing it up. Okay, a LOT of hours. HUNDREDS. All in the 100+ heat. Sheesh! We do so many summer projects, you’d think we’d be trying to move to a cooler climate or something!
Sadly, we are not able to bring our trailer with us to TX since we do not have a reliable truck to pull it, nor will we have time to camp once we get there. But we knew that we couldn’t sell it in the condition it was in.
Remember how we left little Evangeline, just a few months ago?
What you see here is the beginning of the demo process, especially in the ceiling. The skylight was leaky, mostly because it was old and needed to be replaced. The boards were all soggy and moldy. SOOO gross…..
After searching for a while, we finally ordered a new skylight on eBay. Jesse built a new frame for it and sealed it on the top with aluminum roof repair tape, coated with special rv/trailer sealant we got from a local store.
While we were waiting for the new skylight to come in the mail, Jesse spent a few weeks ripping out all the rotted wood and insulation in the roof. Once that was done, he built new cross beams from 1x4s and L brackets, secured new insulation he had purchased on Insulation4US website, then measured/cut and nailed new paneling on!
I helped for about five minutes before calling it a day. Okay, it was more like 30. I channeled my inner Atlas and held the boards up while Jesse secured them. I’m pretty sure I saved the day. Booyah.
We also decided that our Evangeline girl needed new shoes, so we used a linoleum remnant to custom fit and cover all the floor. We used to hire Gettysburg Floor Finishers when we did floor refinishing at home, so we got some tips how it is best to work when your do floor repair.
We didn’t do much to the bathroom other than clean it, mainly because the wallpaper was still in good condition. The panes are frosted, so I didn’t need to find matching curtains! The bathroom has no official door right now, so I got a matching sheet to the living area curtains (actually, it’s a tablecloth, but it’s the right size!). Now, I’ve gotta figure out a way to hang it.
We still have a few small things to finish, like putting white contact paper over the new panels on the ceiling, adding some trim and counter-round pieces around the floor perimeter, along with another strip of paneling near one of the windows, but she’s 99% ready for takeoff! (P.S., here’s the link to the napkins I hung as curtains in the windows!). In this picture, you can also see the top bunk folded down instead of folded up for storage.
We listed our little Evangeline just a few hours ago, and we already have a few bites! We hope to make enough money on it to cover the cost of materials and registration, and, hopefully, to help pay for our moving expenses to Dallas.
We think Miss Evangeline is looking better and better each day, don’t you? We’re gonna miss her, but we know she has many adventures in store for a new family!

Water proof-roof-decks can be constructed, if we use RV Liquid Roof Repair in the start remaining leakage -defects can be also resolved.

Interesting weblog, You know coatings extend the life of roof if performed through Liquid Roof RV and store it from leaks and damages.
