Table for…6?

March 16, 2011 3 Comments

Two Fridays ago, we almost had Bishop Mark and Fr. David over for dinner. The plan was that Courtney would make the meal and I would host. Due to unforeseen circumstances, an emergency Parish Council meeting was called at church and the dinner had to be cancelled (seeing as both of our guests AND Jesse needed to be in attendance).

But the near-event caused me to realize that I am lacking a few nicer things when it comes to the “hosting” department. You might laugh, but I realized that I don’t have enough table room for 6!

What I would REALLY want would be a table like this. Most of the ones I've seen go for around $500.

I’ve decided that until I find the perfect table, I’ll try and find a card table to add on as an extension. We’ll see how tacky that ends up being in reality 🙂

Next, I realized that I don’t have any table cloths or napkins! I know, gasp, right? The only table cloth I’ve ever owned I received at my bridal shower, back when I had a round table.

My mission was clear. Find adequate table decor, in case we ever need to host a dinner.

Requirements: under $50 and within “my” style (ie., nothing terribly fancy).

What do you think?

I set the table for four here, just because two looked so lonely...

What everything looked like when it arrived from the Etsy seller. I just love cute packaging!

Then, I tried several centerpiece ideas. I’m still not sure. Perhaps nothing would be better, seeing as there is limited table space as it is.

Idea #1

Idea #2

Idea #3- Definitely the most practical 🙂

I love it! So cute! I love that you were able to do a pattern on a pattern. I love the look of it when I see it in magazines/blogs, but haven’t been able to pull it off myself yet.

I don’t really have a real table at all, lol. Technically it seats 4, but it’s really a 2 seater that we got for the tiny eating area we had in NYC. I’m on the look out for a beautiful, funky table like the pic you put up. 🙂 But first, I think we need to recover from our down payment!!

Anyway, I like the white ceramics as a centerpiece. 🙂

Can I ask where you found your tablecloth and napkins? I absolutely love them!

And your plates are really pretty, too!

Thanks, guys! Sarah, the tablecloth and napkins are from Target.com! Super cheap too!
