Today I went with my high school on a field trip to the University of Arlington’s “Homerathon“. Every year they set up a stage in the middle of the campus and have people sign up to read different chapters of the Iliad and Odyssey. We signed up for a bunch of slots online, beginning at 9:30 and ending at 11:00. Not as long as the Homerathons we did in Torrey, but it was fun to hear the kids read. Another school, Covenant Classical of Fort Worth, was also there. Apparently, we had accidentally taken all of their spots since we signed up online, so we gave them back a few. Another tradition was they had a big box of funny looking hats. Every reader was supposed to pick one out and wear it! We finished off the afternoon by eating lunch together at a Mexican food place down the road.
