Tonight, we left G with my parents and went to a church get-together. Every now and then, they hold a “Family Game Night and Dinner”.
It was seriously a blast! I am so glad I fought my anti-social tendencies and agreed to go. We had a Greek dinner of Spanikopita (someone there REALLY knows how to make it!) Greek feta salad, pita, rice, and pork chops (someone forgot that it was a Friday fasting day!).
Then, they played 3 rounds of Bingo, with the winners getting half of what was in the pot (the other half went to benefit the church). We got to play 2 of the 3 rounds, since someone bought our cards for us.
The kids had their own little circle, even though each of their cards only cost $.25 cents 🙂
They finished off the night with Greek dancing lessons! I know, dorky sounding, but it was actually so much fun. Not too much pressure, seeing as there were only 15-20 adults left by this time. Just picture “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”…complete with people shouting “OPA!!!” joyously!
I’m definitely starting to feel a little more at home at St. Andrews, instead of feeling like a long-time visitor. Plus, we also got to spend more time with our new friends, Miro and Heather. The more we hear about them, the more unique they seem. Miro was a Philosophy major, turned Chiropractor (the reasoning: to earn enough $ for his wife to stay home with the kids), who practices Brazilian Jui Jitsu in the mornings! And then there’s Heather, who did a few years of college, was a hair dresser, and is now a stay at home mom of a 3 year old! Her baby is due in December, and she is also using a midwife (although she wants a birth center birth instead of a home-birth).
All in all, it was a great time. I’m so glad we went!
As a bonus? Since Fr. knew that the baby is due near Pascha (Holy Thursday, to be exact!), he recommended the BEST BEST name…seriously, I heard it, and it’s like millions of daisies started growing in my brain…stay tuned!

The name works for both genders? You haven’t announced the sex yet, have you? Did I miss that?!

No, we won’t know for another 8 weeks or so. It kinda could work for both genders, but I’m not sure I wanna “force” it…
