As you probably guessed from the title, I am in California on my annual summer vacation to see my family. Last night, G and I flew in to San Luis Obispo (Jesse will be joining us in a few more days, just in time for Big Sur! yay!), and the flight went great! Really! In case you don’t know me and my history with flying, let’s just say when I finally was able to actually reach the destination I originally intended, during the same day I intended, it was quite the pleasant shock. As in, “wow, so THIS is why people actually choose to fly! It’s quicker!”
Anyways, more on traveling with an infant later. I am bookmarking this topic because I would like to share some pretty valuable lessons that I learned this last time around. I guess third time’s the charm. Who woulda thunk it?
After we all awoke from our late night travails from around the country (Keith and his gf Amber flew in from where they are stationed in North Carolina), we had a Honeycutt-style breakfast. Meaning, it was LOUD. Full of bacon stealing and story-swapping. And full of sharp witty humor. Seriously, those puns and insults were flying like Harry Potter’s snitch, all over the room. I think Amber wasn’t quite sure what to make of us! It felt good to laugh until we cried, though.
Another important reason for this trip was the fact that Keith had never met Gregory! This was remedied first thing this morning, and they played together beautifully. G seemed completely fascinated by all of Keith’s mannerisms.
Later in the evening, we all headed down to Avila, a beach about 30 minutes away (for those of you not from CA, Morro Beach is only a 20 min. drive, but Avila is sunnier!). We checked out the local farmer’s market, played some beach ball games, and gave lil G his first taste of the waves!
Seeing as it was Amber’s 21st birthday, we ended the night by stuffing our faces with good food at Tahoe Joe’s in San Luis.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures of the day!

oh man, it is weird reading about you being at MY old stomping grounds, as if they were YOUR old stomping grounds 😉 seriously, I can’t believe we never met before.

They ARE my old stomping grounds!….I grew up on the Central Coast too (from 4 years old on, at least). Also, I think we sorta met at St. Barnabas?

I was just kidding. I know they are your old stomping grounds and I was wondering why we hadn’t met when we were both growing up on the central coast. 🙂

Haha, I guess I couldn’t hear the “tone” of the comment 🙂 Which town did you grow up in? I’m guessing San Luis?
Morielle says
Atascadero, actually. We moved there when I was 12 though so you’ve got me beat 🙂
