Just gave a kick-butt book presentation last night in my Moby Dick class. I forgot how much I like being up in front, teaching the class! It was really refreshing.
The book: The Weaver-God, He Weaves: Melville and the Poetics of the Novel by Christopher Sten
Why you should read it? Sten compares Moby Dick to T.S. Eliot’s The Wasteland, which is fascinating. Also, he believes Ishmael to be the classical epic hero, and does a good job of proving it. Again, fascinating!
