Backyard Updates– Before and After Shots

April 2, 2014 2 Comments

Backyard Updates 4

What is it about spring that makes us want to clean and fix things? Jesse and I have had a couple backyard updates in mind all winter, and we’ve finally been able to do some of them.

First of all, as you can tell from the above picture, we have a few bare spots on both our front and back lawn. We bought some grass seed from North Star Tree Service and spread it all over. Luckily we’ve had 3-4 days of constant rain since then, so it’s filling in nicely!

Secondly, as you can also tell from the above picture, we finally finished the lawn border and pathway. We also wanted to place some outdoor garden furniture. We planned that out and are currently working on it. Remember the “before” shot from when we bought the house?

And the other “before” shot from last year?

Can you tell a difference? (besides the obvious camera quality issue! iPhone vs. Canon T3i isn’t really fair, is it?).

Did you spy it? The totally intentional and expensive pathway decor we stationed right there in the middle?

Just keepin’ it real 😉

We also added a border to the other side of our yard.

Last, but not least, we added a landscape bed next to the deck on this side of the house.

Here’s what it looked like before:

And this garden bed over here?

Now looks like this.

Hard to believe our little house looks so different with just a few weekends of work! We’re definitely not done, but we’re getting there.

Hopefully, soon, we will have a garden as well. My four little boy minions planted a few packets of seeds and have been watering them diligently. They can’t wait to transplant them!

Thanks so much Whitney! It’s amazing how long yard work takes.
