After a week of POURING rain, spring has sprung here in California. The last three days have been a sunny 85 degrees, and it’s finally time to break out the Levi shorts I bought at a garage sale a few weeks ago.
Button up shirt: American Eagle/ Shorts: Levi’s/ Belt: New York and Company/ Shoes: Vintage
I must confess, I went into my 10 year old’s karate dojo today to pay April’s tuition, and one of the teachers looked at me and said, “You shouldn’t be allowed to wear shorts! Come back when you’re tan!” He then proceeded to tell me about his trip to Cabo and how tan he got.
Um, rude much?
I let him finish, then I said, “Well, I’ve already had two brushes with skin cancer. So, thanks, but there are more important things in my life than sun-tanning.”
Boy did that shut him up. Some people, right?
Here’s to Cabo-less spring!

What a strange thing to say to someone! I am so over the fact that everyone think it’s more important to be tan – it’s better to be healthy! Anyway, your white shorts are so cute – I’m hoping it gets warm enough for me to wear shorts soon!

Haha, I know, right? Thanks!

For years I didn’t wear shorts because I’m Irish and don’t tan. At Biola someone once yelled at me to “Get a tan!” when I walked by. Seriously rude. And it haunted me.
Anyway, I’ve finally decided to ignore it and wear shorts because I want to, even though I don’t conform to a societal beauty standard that I will always fall short of – tan or no tan! 🙂

Wow, seriously? That would’ve haunted me too. California’s weird like that…

love those shorts! I need to do some shopping myself 🙂 I bought capri’s because the weather in the texas panhandle is so “iffy” right now. I guarantee if I bought shorts it would be 30 degrees outside. ha

Haha, yes, I’ve heard that TX panhandle weather is pretty tricky! Someone once told me it was the coldest place they ever lived and also the hottest.
