The decorating of Gregory’s room is about to commence this week. There are just a few “road blocks”, you might say.
It just occurred to me that you might be wondering what we are doing decorating if we are planning on moving nearer to Jesse’s work, like I mentioned previously.
Well, the fabulous news is that we are NOT MOVING! I can’t believe that I forgot to mention this on here. About two months ago, I realized that while Jesse was not coming right out and saying it, he was terribly adverse to moving. Alright, he actually came out and said it. He said he would do ANYTHING not to move. And I realized that it would be nice to renew a lease for once! What about Julie, you may ask? Well, one of my piano families is in the process of deciding if they want her to be their live-in nanny. If that doesn’t work out, we have a couple creative ideas for how to make things work here.
It’s a good thing we didn’t decide to move close to that building, btw, because Jesse is moving to a different one. Why? Because he got promoted!!! Already!!! This means not only a pay raise in the form of earned bonuses, but also that he will have a new manager and building, about 5 minutes closer to us. He starts this Thursday. Did I mention that he also got Employee of the Month?
But enough bragging about my husband and his brilliant work performance. I really want to talk about my decoration plans for Gregory’s room.
This second bedroom is currently functioning as a library and guest room. As large as this room is (as big as our living room, actually), it is not big enough to hold a crib, a dresser, all 4 bookshelves, my piano, the trundle bed, AND our big L-shaped Pottery Barn desk. We are going to move my piano to my small office at the top of our stairs and <sad face> we are going to have to sell our beautiful desk. Yes, that same desk that caused Courtney to go into early labor with Topher. It’s sad, but necessary, because the next time Jesse will be in school will most likely be up in New York at St. Vladmir’s Seminary, and we will be living in a tiny 2 bedroom apt. with all of our children (I don’t even want to think about there being more than 1 at this juncture, but you get the idea) sharing the second bedroom. No room for big beautiful desks, I’m afraid.
I listed it last night for a whopping $400, thinking it would take a while to sell. I already have 2 people coming to see it this afternoon. I will keep you all updated on that. If only selling our stupid Passat was this easy!
Once the desk is gone, I will be able to commence with my decoration plans. One side of the room is going to continue to house our trundle bed and bookshelves. The other side is going to hold the crib, dresser and rocker. I think I have finally settled on a “color” scheme that will work with the existing decor. This also means that I decided against the cute owl fabric from previous posts. It was just way too “busy” to work well with our existing decor.
Funny, the fabric I like and ordered a sample swatch of is elephants. I wonder if this is because I am now drawn to larger animals the further I progress into this pregnancy. Watch for month 6, where the decor theme will be whales.
Here are a few more things I would like to get to finish the room:
Also, I have decided to paint the wall behind the crib. With the use of a projector borrowed from Fr. Joe’s wife, Kathy, I bought this very same stencil from a lady on Etsy. I am going to project the image up onto the wall, trace it, and then paint!
All of these decor plans are, however, awaiting the sale of our desk. We’ll see if these two people come and want to buy it!
Update, at 9:30pm: The desk is gone! The first person who saw it gave me $400 and took it away. Wasn’t expecting that to be so quick!
