We made it through Round 2 relatively unscathed, although I was near the breaking point this evening. Claire kept peeing in various places (probably acting out because no one was paying attention to her) so I locked her in her crate where she whined incessantly. Jesse was once again passed out asleep, exhausted from illness. After wearing myself out trying to sanitize the house all day (as best I could with someone sick in the next room!), I was left alone to deal with Gregory, who, for some reason, cried for 2 hours before finally submitting to “The Sleep”. The only time he stopped crying was during his bath, seeing as this is now one of his favorite pastimes (second only to nakedness).
The only light amidst the day was when my cousin Julie offered to bring us groceries and food. It’s at times like these that I really wish we lived near family, because I don’t know how we would’ve done it without her. We were literally out of everything, seeing as I had cleaned out the fridge before leaving for CA and I didn’t want to leave the house for fear of being contagious and not knowing if Jesse would need me or not. I texted her a short list and she brought it all– Gatorade for Jesse, Diet Coke for me, milk, detergent, dish soap, even dinner for me, since I didn’t want to stink up the house cooking while Jesse was sick. It was heaven– I realized that I hadn’t kept down anything but toast and half a bowl of oatmeal in 72 hours! I really need to replenish my food supply, seeing as the scale tonight said I’ve lost 8 lbs.
Jesse is taking the day off of work tomorrow, just in case he’s still contagious. While this might mean I’ll get help finishing the “sanitize the house” project, it also means he’s already used half of his sick days for 2011! Scary thought…please pray that we all recover quickly.
