Girls Day Out
On Sunday evening I decided that I was tired of having Mondays all to myself. Oh sure, it is nice, having all of my lessons scheduled Tues-Thurs. because it makes for a 4 day weekend all summer (wow, if someone had said that in my presence a few months ago I would have bit off their pinkie finger).
So, instead of spending all day with Clara The Peeing Wonder and Mirabelle the hissing Nazi, I instead invited Rebecca, Jenny and Courtney over to spend the day with me.
Jenny and Rebecca carpooled and picked me up at around 2 where we all went to Pollo Campanera for lunch (yay for Guatamalan chicken!). After we went home to relax, Courtney and Topher joined us (even though Topher is definitely not a girl). We hung out, ate some icecream and talked. After Courtney left to go teach a piano lesson, the three of us girls babysat Topher. We passed the time talking some more, playing piano and singing, and eventually trying to soothe a very angry baby who DID NOT WANT ANY MORE VEGGIE MUM-MUMS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Once Michael and Jesse got home from work, they took over Topher Duty so that Rebecca, Jenny and I could go to Curves. Jenny had already visited with me once before and Rebecca used to be a member, so it was a lot of fun. Jenny was even given some unsolicited advice by one of the Curves staff on how to have productive bowel movements- and if you know Jenny, you also know that she loves to make sarcastic comments. This little incident produced a doozy full of them, but being a Christian, she decided not to share them, which forced the sarcasm to bounce around like a pinball machine in her brain. It looked very painful, but probably not as much as constipation.
Don’t think too hard about the pinball analogy. Especially given the context.
After I pulled Jenny off the stretching machine before we could get kicked out (she was trying to use it as a jungle gym) we came back home where Michael and Jesse were grilling steak fajitas!! Courtney returned from piano lessons, Jason walked over from his apartment, and we had another Community Dinner (the 4th one this week at our house…I’m starting to forget what our kitchen looks like without dishes piled in the sink!).
And then comes the best part.
All 4 of us GIRLS went to Chili’s where we ordered margaritas and chocolate lava cake. Rebecca, our designated driver, then took us to the dollar theatre where we saw Fast and Furious. Oh yeah. That’s right. We did it just to throw the boys into a weird alternate universe. They actually asked if they could come, but we said, “Sorry! You have to stay home and babysit! Muhahaha!” I’m sure they found themselves having random cravings to watch Gilmore Girls.
Great plan. Except for most of the movie was lost on us. Apparently, we don’t own any 3D Testosterone Glasses. Upon wearing said glasses, certain parts of the movie suddenly appear GNARLY and AWESOME. So it wasn’t really our fault that all we saw were loud engines and oil grease.
Then again, these glasses would have only shown Paul Walker’s bad acting instead of the Hot Studmuffin we all saw. In the end, this factor made us all realize that the movie was decidedly better without any Testosterone Glasses involved.
Rock Wall Patio
I think this is a cool way to make a rock wall for your patio! What do you think? Too low budget?
More of the Topher Photoshoot
I am only posting the ones of Topher and I. You will have to go to Courtney’s blog for the rest of them (and believe me, you should!).
