I totally believe in the power of names. I remember being at a retreat once and hearing a speaker run through the "begats".. and then she stopped, looked at us and said, "God knows your name!" That has stuck with me.

Oh, I love this! You've been a warrior as long as I've known you, but I distinctly remember you dropping all your projects on more than one occasion to listen to a friend in need. As I get a glimpse into the way you care for your children, I see the warrior and the listener merge into one. You are able to be present in the moment with them, to marvel at the many facets of their different personalities, and to listen to and learn alongside them (I think particularly of some of Gregory's church escapades). Yet your love is also fierce and so much of your energy is channeled into creating safe spaces for them, helping them to grow in goodness. Honestly, it's inspiring. I have always been afraid of "losing" myself in motherhood. But you have only become even more fully who you are - warrior, listener. Happy Birthday, dearest friend! May you see many years of growing into your names! <3
