To keep my mind off of my brother Keith’s departure for bootcamp, I have been doing some decorating around the house. Part of this also has to do with the fact that Jesse and I are (finally!) BOTH working and there is a little more dispensable income lying around. Actually, that dispensable income only exists if I decide that those scary loans we have to pay off are just a nasty bedtime story. Once I decide they’re real however…
Anyways, my main project has been our guest bedroom, where I had to fix some laboratory cabinets. I am trying to get the color I so desperately crave without having to paint the walls (a favor to Jesse, who begs me not to mention the “p” word until we own a house). It’s tough, but also a decorating challenge. And I like challenges.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve taken to posting pictures of things, even when I’m not completely done. I figure it’s more fun to see it evolve over time, rather than to just get the finished product.
This is the first legit TV stand Jesse and I have ever owned. I’ve always been creative and tried to use other types of furniture, but I’ve finally given in to the undeniable fact that real tv stands actually do such a good job hiding cords- who would’ve thought it? Also, notice my “stump” stand. Have I ever posted a picture of it before? I got it, of all places, at a GAS STATION in ARKANSAS while helping the Unruhs move to Texas. It was love at first sight- everyone else was taking a dump in the restroom, and I was drooling over a tree stump. Oh well, I guess that’s why they call it inspiration!

I just love your decorating style! The guest bedroom looks so inviting, and I ADORE the bird decals on your cabinets. 😀
