Positive Encouragement

“In remembering God’s greatness and boundlessness, let us not despair and think that we are too insignificant for His love. Similarly, in recollecting the frightening depth of our fall, let us not doubt the possibility of restoring within us virtues that have been deadened by sin. Both one and the other are possible with God: to descend and enlighten our mind through guidance, and also to restore virtues within us.”

Oh my goodness, we just bought a 2010 Corolla!!

During the bargaining process, which started Saturday, I didn’t let myself feel a thing emotionally. I tell you, not a thing. Guess how I know?? Because ALL OF IT hit me when our car dealer, Sal, walked us out the parking lot and handed us the keys. All of a sudden, I wanted to hug him, hug Jesse, hug the random old people buying an Avalon, maybe even kiss the grandma. Everything and everyone. All at once.

If you’ve been following our blog, then you know how we’ve had the WORST luck with our VW Passat. We still have to sell it, but our first car payment with the new car isn’t until middle of December, so we have time to put that bucket of bolts on Auto Trader or walk into Carmax.

The best part about our deal? Yeah, there was not a chance we were able to save up 20k, so we weren’t able to walk away without a car payment. I’m sure Dave Ramsy would NOT approve.

The dealership was, however, offering 0% APR financing for the entire length of the loan. So we are not paying a DIME of interest on this car! I think that even good ole Dave would have to admit that’s at least the second best case scenario.

Plus, for $2 more/month, we have unlimited roadside assistance and bumper to bumper coverage up to 90,000 miles. And since the car only as 45 miles on it now (40 of which JESSE AND I put on the car while testing and driving it home), I think that will be a long time in coming!

We are taking a poll as to the name: What do you think??

Prayer and Learning

This quote, sent to me by my godparents, really influenced my heart today. It’s a good reminder to all of us who are still in school (or even those who aren’t!).

The enemy knows that prayer is our invincible weapon against him, and so he tries to keep us from praying. He fills us with a desire for secular learning, and encourages us to spend our time on studies that we have already renounced. Let us resist his suggestions; otherwise, if we neglect our own fields and go wandering elsewhere, we shall harvest thorns and thistles instead of figs and grapes. “For the wisdom of this world is folly in God’s sight” (I Corinthians 3:19).

Preview!

I just found this on Youtube- previews for this week’s Glee episode wherein Kurt FINALLY gets to sing! Not only that, but it’s a song from Wicked!! The second half of the clip is Artie (wheel-chair guy) singing a Billy Idol song.
