Do you ever have days where you feel like giving God a huge fist-pump/high-five?
I had one of those days. Not only was Gregory incredibly sweet and loving (I think he’s given me over 40 hugs today!), but I got to watch his reaction to his first basketball game (well, there was that one when he was 2.5 months old…), and it was downright precious. He entered the gym, saw all of Jesse’s team warming up, and immediately began saying, “Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball!” over and over again, breathless and excited. After a few minutes, he ran over to me and buried his face in my lap, still chanting “ball”, over and over. It was as if he couldn’t contain all the excitement.
I also received word that I have a new part time job!
A little over a year and a half ago, I started writing online articles for my old piano company. I really enjoyed it, but once Gregory was born I forgot to keep at it. It was only a temporary arrangement, so I didn’t worry too much about it.
In preparation for buying a house, a part of the “plan” not yet enacted is finding a way for me to make more money. I still only have one piano student (I haven’t been too great at actually advertising or getting the word out!), so I’m obviously working on getting a few more (7-10 would be ideal!).
All of a sudden, I decided that it would be worth shooting an email to my old music company boss, asking if she needed any more writing done for her website. Turns out, she was more than happy to give me 6 articles/month worth of writing for now, hopefully increasing the work load in 2012! Apparently, she really remembered and liked my work enough to create a little position for me!
It’s pretty obvious that I love to write. This blog benefits me more than it does anyone else, because I couldn’t stop writing if I tried. While this job doesn’t make enough $ for me to stop searching for more piano students, it definitely helps a lot. And, since I don’t have to commute or find a babysitter, I get to do work that I enjoy, on my own time and at my own pace! Pretty perfect, no?
