The last two weekends in a row, our family has gone downtown to spend our Saturday. Only this time…the Dallas sky decided to open up and pouring rain descended upon us. We were at the park, watching the clouds roll in, and we’d just bought amazing Vietnamese/fusion tacos from a food truck.
And then…pouring rain. It went from nothing, two drops, and then…so much rain, we couldn’t even see five feet in front of our faces. It was a solid curtain, and we were huddled with all the other hapless souls who had been playing at the park under a small tarp by the bathroom.
After about 20 minutes, when the rain finally became “bad” instead of “impossible”, we made a run for it. 3 blocks in the rain, until we arrived under the awning of the Dallas art museum. Turns out, a few of our fellow comprades from the park had also made the same run, and they were actually cheering us on as we arrived! We wiped the rain out of our eyes, looked at our final 3 blocks on Google Maps, tucked away our phones, and then sprinted once more.
We took these pictures when we made it back to the train stop. Apparently, a security guard was watching us behind this window on our left. Jesse said he saw the guy laughing hysterically. We were just that ridiculous, soaking wet, with 2 of us in diapers (we actually lost Gregory’s spongebob swim trunks in the mad dash through downtown– SAD!).
But before it began pouring, we did manage to have a fun time!
That moment when AJ realized that the ground beneath him shot water…
The coolest pool in downtown, at The Joule.
Unfortunately, we have other plans tonight, so we will have to break our chain with downtown. But we’ll be back again soon!

So fun watching all of your fun adventures. When you get caught like that, you’ve just gotta laugh, right? I bet the kids thought it was very fun. That balcony pool is one of the neatest things. Not sure how I would feel walking beneath it, but it is awesome to look at!!

I’m also not sure how I’d feel swimming in it, knowing everyone in the street could see me underwater!!
